Just in from Marco

Well, I%26#39;ve been home for about 3 hours and I%26#39;ve been hating every minute of it. Our trip to Marco was fabulous!!! It is absolutely beautiful there, a true paradise! We got in on Sunday and didn%26#39;t do much of anything. Just did some shopping and the girls played in the pool. We were up bright and early Monday morning for our fishing charter and we had the best time. Our Captain was great and did so well with the girls. Believe it or not, the kids out fished us.....I couldn%26#39;t believe my eyes. My 12 year old caught the biggest fish (a black drum) probably about 2 feet long. He also took us to an island to do some shelling. The girls really had a wonderful time. If anyone is looking to do a fishing charter with their kids (or without) let me know, I%26#39;d be happy to provide more details, but I just loved our captain!

Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty rainy. We made it over to Tiger Tail and waded across to the gulf side and no sooner we get there, the lightening starts. We thought, oh...this will pass...so we left all of our things (except our towels) and waded back over to the snack place for shelter. Every time my husband would say ';looks like it%26#39;s clearing up'; it would start thundering and lightening and downpouring again. I finally told him to ';shut it'; as we%26#39;d like to be able to make it back to get our belongings at some point...LOL. So, we were there but only a short time.

We never left our house Wednesday. We literally layed around the entire day long. Played some board games and ate. I got to read a few books. I really quite enjoyed this day.

Thursday we went to the beach at the Mariott. It is beautiful there. Even though we didn%26#39;t stay at the Mariott, we did walk through their hotel to get to the beach (which I guess we were not supposed to do) so for anyone that see%26#39;s the parking lot in front of the Mariott....it%26#39;s only parking for guests of the hotel. The parking lot attendant allowed us to park there so we went in through the hotel. We went back again on Friday and we were told we couldn%26#39;t park there. I asked the guy where we can go to park to access the beach and he said I don%26#39;t know, but you can%26#39;t park here...LOL. We found parking for South Beach and that%26#39;s where we went on Friday. It%26#39;s nice down there as well, only downside to that part of the beach is that there are no facilities there, but we were fine.

Our last day on Saturday we rented the little scooter cars and drove around the island with the girls for a couple of hours. They enjoyed that and then we just went back to our house and hung out at the pool. We realy didn%26#39;t do anything aside from eat, sleep, and relax. I think when we return, we%26#39;ll do some excursions, but we were in such a need for nothing but relaxation that it%26#39;s all we were focused on.

Thanks for the review!!

What are the Scooter cars??

Just in from Marco

They are really cool. Kind of like little buggies. 2 seaters with two wheels in the front and one in the back. They are motorized. I am going to upload pics some point today. Once I get them loaded I%26#39;ll post them or send them to you!!

Sounds like Heaven to me! Love anything that%26#39;s across the Jolly! Glad you had a great trip and yes we all go to relax and enjoy the atmosphere! Always glad to hear from a fellow Buckeye!

Thanks, Jamey!

I would love to see your pictures.

Would you stay at the same house again?

Marissa

I absolutely would stay at the same house again! Like I said, it wasn%26#39;t granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances, but it wasn%26#39;t 1960%26#39;s linoleum and pea green paint either. It was nice and remarkably clean! I really have been meaning to get pictures posted, however returning back to work this week has kept me busier than I had hoped :-( and with the 4th of July, we are leaving to go out of town until next week, so I am hopefully going to be able to get them up sometime Sunday!

Jamey..........how about those shells? Did you get any great finds?

Hey, just read your post and would like more info on the ';scooter cars';. We are leaving the 11th for our 1st trip to MI and have been trying to find out everything to do %26amp; see before we get there. We have 2 17 yr. olds and we want to make sure they aren%26#39;t bored. What is the best access to Tiger Tail? Any suggestions what so ever would be greatly appreciated. Enjoyed what you wrote by the way!! Thanks

Tiger Tail Beach has a large parking lot with several ramps to the sand. The main entrance is where the restaurant is located with tables, restrooms, wildlife info, etc. If you prefer to be closer to the wavier part of the Gulf, park as far down as you can and take one of the last ramps to the beach. The ';tiger tail'; is a naturally protected part of the beach and the water is very calm, warmer and not like the other parts (no waves, etc.). You can walk out through the protected part to the ';rougher'; Gulf waters (just put your stuff on your head and walk over).

You can also access the beach at South Beach (small parking lot opposite The Apollo Condos).

You mention in your great review ....

';only downside to that part of (South) beach is that there are no facilities there';

You are correct. However there are facilities in the parking lot area (according to Marco Review)

yes there is. I noticed that as I walked each day to South Beach. South Beach is just a very nice area.
