Rental Car Rates, what is happening?

We are looking to stay in Ft. Myers Beach in July. Unfortunately this isn%26#39;t going to happen if the car rental rated don%26#39;t go down. Cheapest I could find was $450/week. That is outrageous! What%26#39;s happening to Florida? I%26#39;m renting a car in Las Vegas the first week of April for $13/day.

Rental Car Rates, what is happening?

that is outrageous, keep looking.

Rental Car Rates, what is happening?

I was looking for a rental car for this April for 9 days and every website (travel sites like Orbitz and the individual car rental companies) listed prices between $500 and $900. Read a post that mentioned rentalcarmomma.com and found that they had a price of $350 through Thrifty. Then searched on Google for rental car deals and found a link to Hotwire hot deals and got a car for $250. You don%26#39;t know which company you will get until you book it, but they guarantee it will be one of the national chains. I would check these out...Good Luck!

I%26#39;ve had good luck with kayak.com. I have found that the earlier I book, the better the price. When I booked my flights for this March last October, I also reserved my convertible for $250/week including all fees and taxes. The same car now would cost me almost $600 a week.

i always use priceline.com, it is lower than hotwire. The website www.biddingfortravel.com will help you learh how to bid! you just pick the size of car you want and go from there! Sometimes I have better luck picking a bigger than I need! People post there rates on that site! Goodluck!

For the March Break (next week, yeah!!!), we were able to book a full size car, 8 days for $317 and an economy car for 8 days for $281 on Priceline. I started off low and just increased my bid everyday until it was accepted. Alamo is the company we got.

I checked out all of the sites and know these are great rates.

We booked a Cadillac DSL from National for $261.76 for 8 days. They were running a special of 199.00 whether you got economy or luxury. We chose luxury for that price. We will be down March 21-28. Can%26#39;t wait.

Oops, Make that a Cadillac DTS or similar.

Go to Hotwire.com and tell them when and where you%26#39;re going. They%26#39;ll send an e-mail when the rates come down. They may only be down for a matter of hours, often around midnight Wednesday night/Thursday mornings. Keep checking with them.

I am doing Ft. Myers in May and could find only $380/week or so. Got a notice of good rates from Hotwire and got it for $220 including all taxes.

Good luck.

I have been trying on priceline with no luck, but tonight they accepted a bid of $31. I was bidding on compact size with no luck, changed the car to midsize and they took the bid. We are arriving at St.Pete/Clearwater late March 22 and departing March 27th. I think the rates are better if you are staying over a weekend. Good luck!

I%26#39;m going from 6/17 thru 6/24 and was able to get a full-size from National for $225 (incl all taxes and fees). Last year, I only paid $108 for a similar reservation so it appears rates have gone up.

Can you tell me your dates? I can test your dates on my reservation and let you know if I come up with a similar rate. Once it%26#39;s closer to your travel date, you can go to carrentalsavers.com and see if they can beat your best deal (that%26#39;s how I got the $108 last year).
