Travelling to Jacksonville in April for a wedding. It seems that car rental at the airport is extremely expensive ($60-$90 per day). However, at locations away from the airport, the rate is about $20-$30 per day. I know that the airport locations are generally a little higher, but this difference seems outrageous. Are the airport rates likely to come down nearer the date of our trip? If not, is it feasible to take a cab to another rental location?
Car Rental
Though airport prices are usually somewhat higher, that does seem like an unreasonable difference. Depending on what part of town you will be staying, you could search on a neighborhood location and take a cab. Unfortunately our airport is about 20 miles from town so the cab fare is not cheap.
I deal with Enterprise at the downtown location on Water St. at the Omni Hotel and they are always very helpful and easy to deal with. They will pick you up at your home or hotel, but don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;ll provide transportation from the airport. You may want to give them a call for suggestions - 904-798-0035.
Car Rental
Would not depend on rates coming down. Trixie%26#39;s suggestion of calling Enterprise is the way to start.
Reserve a cheap car. Change the reservation later if you have to. Don%26#39;t forget discounts: AAA, AARP, Military, Government, Entertainment book coupons, etc. Jacksonville has all the major rental agencies.
You can take the bus from the airport to the Enterprise location at the OMNI/Wachovia building for only $1.50 and it is only about a 20-25 minute ride. Better than any of the taxi%26#39;s around here for $32.00 and up. Here is the URL to the JTA site:

What are your actual dates, and how many people will be in the car? Could you get by with a super compact? Let us know, and we can do a little research for you.
