I just booked AKL for August - is standard room view okay?

This evening I booked Animal Kingdom Lodge for August 18th - 22nd (me, husband and twin daughetrs who will be 7 in July). In past I have stayed at only value resorts but this time wanted to splurge a little - I put down the deposit and will make periodic payments in order to have hotel paid for before we leave. After we leave AKL, we head to Miami for 4 days. I can%26#39;t wait. I only booked the standard room .. wanted Savannah view ...but oh well. I know AKL is expensive but just wanted to experience a Disney Deluxe Hotel at least once. For those who have stayed at the AKL recently, do you think the standrad room view is okay?

This is just my opion. If I was going to stay at Animal Kingdom, then I would do the Savanah. That is the main point of being at the Animal Kingdom.

We have stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge many, many times, most recently this past November. We have stayed with a Savannah View and it is quite nice to have a Zebra or Giraffe walk by while having your morning coffee BUT the last few trips we have booked a Standard View and it%26#39;s been fine. The last trip we were upgraded to a Pool View, with Bunkbeds, that was nice. It never hurts to ask about an upgrade to pool view or better when you check-in and make sure to tell the Cast Member that this is your ';Once in a Life Time Holiday at the AKL and just want it to be perfect for the Kids !! '; hint, hint :)

You can see the Animals from Many Locations around the Resort, not just from a Balcony in a Savannah View Room. Make sure to go out back at night and see the Animals with the Night Vision Goggles, really neat.

If you didn%26#39;t request the Bunkbeds, that might be something to think about asking for at check-in, the girls might enjoy that :)

I also booked AKL for a week starting August 3. I booked a savannah room since we are taking advantage of the 4-3 offer ( you pay for 4 nights and get 3 for free), this offer is valid for stays until August 15.

I am the original poster. I think I will now book the Savannah view becasue I just found out that I have a PIN associated with my name for 40% off if I change my hotel reservations till the last week of August. Thanks for all who have replied to me.
