Shuttle Launch Posponed

Until Thursday due to a hydrogen leak.

F Y I ... a buddy went over to see the Delta launch last Friday. He has witnessed several shuttle launches and says that a Delta launch viewed from Jetty Park is every bit as impressive as a shuttle launch.

Shuttle Launch Posponed

CTR, I was wondering about that exact question. Being a space freak and still hoping a shuttle goes up this summer where I can see it,I watched the delta launch the other night on NASA tv and thought that looked as impressive as a shuttle and may not be quite as crowded as a shuttle launch. What did your buddy say about the crowds that night. As bad as a shuttle? Thanks, NDW

That%26#39;s a shame, it%26#39;s such a nice day for a launch too.

Ladyemm,

Yes, we can only hope tomorrow is as clear.

As to the crowds, they are much less, but my buddy thinks that may change. With the shuttle no longer flying, the only thing to see worth seeing will be the Delta. The Delta will draw crowds like the shuttle. However, it depends on if the Delta launch schedule increases in frequency. If the Deltas become extremely frequent, say every couple of weeks, then attendance will drop with familiarity.

No way to know.

Now it can%26#39;t go until at least Sunday. Hope the weather will still be as nice, but no full moom.

Now, they are saying probably Monday, and if it don%26#39;t fly by at least Tuesday, it will be put off until some time in April.

Sorry to show my ignorance but how will this effect future shuttle launches? We will be there in July and originally we missed any launch. Will this cause a knock on effect or do NASA try to keep to original dates. Thanks

do they ever go on the planned date? We were meant to see 2 diff launches on hols and even though we were there for 2 weeks after one and 3 weeks after another we never saw any of them both were posponed so much.

Well, anytime a delay occurs, it can affect the future schedule launches of the same shuttle.

There is no scheduled shuttle launch in July right now, as there%26#39;s a window between mid May and August on the schedule at this point. I doubt seriously that you%26#39;ll see one then, even with all these delays.

BTW, here%26#39;s a site that will keep you up-to-date on the scheduled launches:

nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html

I%26#39;m sure i should know this but can they be seen from the Orlando area?
