Hello all. I%26#39;ve been looking through past messages but could not find an answer to my question.

I am wondering if there are any kayak rental places near the Tradewinds/Sandpiper hotel which is where we%26#39;re staying.

I%26#39;m also wondering about sting rays on st pete%26#39;s beach, are they there?

This is my first time to this area of FL so I%26#39;m excited!

The closest kayak rental is at Fort De Soto Park. They have a well-marked trail through the mangroves and around some small islands, or you can go off on your own, but not into the Gulf.

Another option is the Outpost in Gulfport. Nice kayaking around Clam Bayou.

Sting ray season is May through September. You may or may not see some if you%26#39;re here then. Remember to do the ';stingray shuffle';, especially as you enter the water. This is just what it sounds like - walk along without lifting your feet. The stingrays will sense you, and swim away. The danger is in stepping down on one.

The stingrays don%26#39;t ';attack';; they react. I%26#39;ve never had a problem, and most people don%26#39;t. You can still swim when they%26#39;re around!
