The New Restaurant
Let me know how it is!
It seems like it took Forever for that place to open!
Ate there last night...enjoyed my 3 large Mexican beef Tacos with black beans %26amp; rice ($9.99) - friends had a great Chicken dish over pasta (about $13.95)- very tastly and enough for 3 people - honest! - others had crab stuffed Tilapia ($12.99)-
All dishes where good sized - all were spicey - very tasty! Service was good - I%26#39;ll go back!
I want to try... Chicken Tortilla Soup - Steve%26#39;s Homemade Chili - Blackened Yellowfin Tuna (and their steaks)!
Siesta Key Jim
The avocado dip wasn%26#39;t that great, the queso was below average, but the grilled grouper sandwich was good. Great atmosphere and we will be back for the Sunday brunch. The biggest problem I have with them (and others that also do this) is that they charge a $2 plate splitting fee. Why nickel and dime those of us that are NOT contributing to the obesity epidemic this country is facing. Not to mention that we ate an appetizer and then decided to split a sandwich. It%26#39;s not like we ordered free tap water and split a sandwich. Our bill was over $40 for two, and the $2 doesn%26#39;t bother me as much as the idea that they punish people for eating less.
We just returned from Siesta Key and we had drinks and dinner at the Hub on Saturday night. The food was good as well as the service. Nice music and friendly bartenders. We had the tuna martini appetizer, and the shrimp appetizer with scraccea sauce, both were excellent. My husband and I shared a dinner tacos with rice and beans and it was also good. More than enough for two.
Another good restaurant in the village is Cafe Gabbiano. I had the best scallop appetizer there. The meal was so good we ended up going back again before we left. They are in the process of opening a wine bar right next door. I think they said they would be doing cheese as well as small plates there. Pietro and Susan(the owners) were wondreful. Our server Ken was very attentive to our every need. We even got to meet the chef as he came out to see us.I found this restaurant vey very good. We dine out quite often and I would rate it in our top 10. They also have quite an extensive wine inventory and you are sure to find one you like and that is in your budget. Don%26#39;t overlook this place if you are looking for a nice evening out. Sit outside in the tent. There is also another Italian restaurnat in the village,Bella Roma.It is also good but not much atmosphere.
We ate at The Hub last Sunday night while on vacation on Siesta Key. The place was packed and tables kept turning over all night. Good service and good food. The Crab Roll appetizer was very tasty! This place also hosts a Sunday Brunch that looked good in passing.
In our three nights, we visited Cafe Blase, Javiers, and The Hub. I would probably rank this place second behind Javier%26#39;s and ahead of Cafe Blase. All were good - we tend to look for a unique dining experience with good presentation and flavor. Javier%26#39;s has good options with their tapas menu and full entrees. Javier and his wife were very friendly and welcoming - felt like we were eating in their home. Highly recommended.
