Fashion Fair District Miami and Miami Chinatown

Does anyone have any information for the two? I%26#39;m visiting the Miami area real soon and have very little information about these. I would like to know if anyone%26#39;s been there and how was it? The Fashion Fair District I%26#39;m talking about is Wynwood location. Thanks much!

Fashion Fair District Miami and Miami Chinatown

The Wynwood location you speak of is commonly referred to as The Design District or The District. It%26#39;s a very up and coming urban area, but still very urban. Not really a place to stay, but cool to visit if you%26#39;re really into design, fashion and off-beat stuff.

Here are some TripAdvisor reviews:

Some popular bars/clubs/restaurants/venues include Poplife @ The District (www.thedistrictmiami.com), I/O Lounge (www.iolounge.com), Uva 69, SoHo Lounge...

I have lived in Miami all of my life and have never heard of a Miami Chinatown (?!?). I%26#39;m very curious to know if and where this actually exists.

Fashion Fair District Miami and Miami Chinatown

Thanks so much for the information. There is a fashion fair district in LA and found through the internet that there was one in Miami too. I really like the one in LA.

As for the chinatown, I guess there isn%26#39;t one like in San Francisco. I got an email back from a good source in Miami and said there are a good five blocks or so that are Chinese restaurants and some shops, but that%26#39;s mainly it.

Thanks for checking it in for me though!

Cheers!

I would agree with the local expert. I was born and raised in Miami and have never heard of a Miami Chinatown??

However, there is an abaundance of Chinese restaurants in Miami. There is practically one on every block.

Haha, that%26#39;s great! I love Chinese food. Once in awhile.... I%26#39;m so excited. Not only am I going to visit the Miami area during Memorial Day, but I%26#39;m also moving to FLorida in July, so I am going to be your new neighbor!!! Yippee!

Hey New Neighbor!

Where are you staying? Will you have a car to get around? Give us a little more specific info (dates etc) and we can help find you Chinese Food and EVERYTHING else...

Geez! Why would you want to move to sunny Florida from Minneapolis?

hahahhahahaaaaa!

AG

Trade snow for sun..hmm... gotta think about that.. haha

We%26#39;re arriving May 26 - 28th. Memorial Weekend. Staying at a hotel in N. Miami Beach because all the ones left on S. Beach are really expensive.

Have you ever been to Crobar or Club Deep?

OK%26gt;

Where in N.M.B. will you stay and will you have a rent a car?

Perhaps this goes without saying but Memorial Day Weekend on South Beach is HIP HOP weekend. The hotels are double plus booked because this is a HUGE Urban Event... Do you guys do this in Minnesota?

The Clubs are all MAXxXED out - it is CrAzY here!

This article snippet is from the Miami Times 2005 recap...

';Miami Beach was the place to be last weekend as nearly 250,000 people took part in the Memorial Day weekend festivities on the beach. The four-day, three-night hip-hop party on South Beach left thousands of revelers vowing to come back next year. “I’ve never seen so many rappers and celebrities in one place at one time outside of a concert. South Beach was definitely what it was hyped up to be,” said Myanda Jackson, who traveled from Washington, D.C. for the weekend. The weekend’s fun and festivities started Friday night with clubs and hotels opening their doors to hip-hop and R%26amp;B lovers to begin their fun filled weekend.';

If you%26#39;re part of the party scene, plan on getting where you want to go EARLY and staying out late. If you have a car, park it at the parking garage at 17th Street east of Meridian Avenue and WALKING in as the streets are pretty much blocked with traffic, cruising, cops and crowds. You do NOT want to sit in your car in the jam. Arrive from the east - down Alton Road and left on 17th until you pass Meridian Ave. and see the garages. Then - ABANDON that car...

It%26#39;s fun, it%26#39;s wild... it%26#39;s an annual Miami Beach ritual.

Brace yourself!

Hello sunshine!

Wow, AG, you%26#39;ve got the 411 on everything! I%26#39;m likin this! Just forwarded this to the girls that I%26#39;m coming down with. WOW, so hip hop weekend that Memorial Weekend, So excited! And no we don%26#39;t have anything like this in Minnesota. We have great clubs and bars downtown Minneapolis, but nothing like this is going to compare to what we%26#39;re heading for! (*%#*(@^@%26amp;^)(%_(@_)!*@@

Thanks for all of the info! Do you live in Miami? Which clubs have you gone to in South Beach that are off the hook?

We%26#39;re staying in N.M.B. because they hotels that you mentioned, yes, they were double priced and expensive, so we%26#39;ll have to drive, which I know will suck already. Thanks for the parking info too! That will help lots. Any other advices or info that you can give is very much helpful!!!!

Thanks much again!

1. Where are you staying?

2. Before you get here - perhaps for 2 weeks before you get here - start Googling Hip Hop Weekend to get all the Urban sites with updates on the clubs. You can look now but there is nothing too REAL on them yet... Closer in, they will be posting the party spots. The other sources of info will be

www.miaminewtimes.com

www.cooljunkie.com

Anything that USUALLY happens here is DIFFERENT that weekend. The clubs all get taken over by different record labels, radio stations etc. Celebrities and urban clothing labels sponsor pool parties and club nights. It%26#39;s wild, it%26#39;s crowded... it%26#39;s a little dangerous (how old are you and the girls?? - NO! - don%26#39;t tell me or I%26#39;ll just worry about you!!!)

Definitely leave the car at 17th Street and walk south and toward the Ocean. Ask people which way to go. The clubs are on Washington Ave (about 2 blocks east of the garage) and Collins etc. Some of the hotels around 17 %26amp; Collins will also have parties so the parking garage will not be too far from the action. If you get too far and it%26#39;s too late - a taxi is always an option back to the car.

When you check the listings, just figure the garage is 1700 and you can do the math on the addresses. The farther south you go, the lower the numbers will get all the way down to 100...

Have Fun - Be Safe!

AG

My sister is booking the hotel, so I have not heard of where we%26#39;re staying at yet.

I am 27 and the friends that are coming range from 22 - 27. We%26#39;re all legal. We%26#39;ll be safe. We are all mature adults just trying to soak up some sun. We%26#39;re doing a lot of shopping while there.

We%26#39;re actually landing in Orlando first and then driving down to Miami for the weekend and then driving back to Orlando.

Cheers!
