';gulf view';

hello. i%26#39;ve been trying to read as much as i can without having to barrage you all with questions, but i%26#39;ve run into a few.

i%26#39;ve been looking through VRBO as we%26#39;re looking to come to PCB (at possibly seychelles) either the end of march or the end of april. (2 adults, 2 kids ages 7 %26amp; 12). i%26#39;ve found many condos and a large variation in prices and wonder...

1) in the seychelles (and any condo for that matter) if i don%26#39;t see the words ';gulf view'; or ';beach view,'; regardless of the photos it shows on the page, is the room probably facing the road rather than the gulf? or do most condos put pools and such on that side so all rooms have views?

2) would the owners whose calendars are mostly empty during spring break be willing to come down in price and does their open calendar indicate there may be a good reason for those vacancies that might alter my view of the condo?

3) does older or unstylish decor indicate that mattresses and the like may not be kept up?

thanks

I cant say for Seychelles, but most all of the condos on the beach side of the road have beach view. When contacting the owner just ask that question directly to them. Any of the listings on vrbo that are open for the dates you prefer, send an email to all of them telling them your prefered dates and tell them your looking for a good deal. I did this last May for bike week and saved alot of money. Its supply %26amp; demand reversed, alot of supply %26amp; not enough demand since all the new condos have been built. I cant answer your last question but I%26#39;ll make a suggestion. If the decor of a unit looks old or unstylish to us when we are looking, we simply pass on that unit. There are so many to choose from, we dont take a chance. I always want the place we stay to be nicer than our normal everyday home so its more like a vacation. I hope this helps you a little.

ajzaxblue--Welcome to the Board. Good questions from you and good answers from Rocketman.

It seems that the majority of the newer condos that have been built w/in the last 5 yrs have the gulf view vs gulf front units. There is a difference in these....a view is just that, at some angle you have a ';view'; of the beach/water. Gulf front means you should be able to see the beach/water directly in front of you from your window/balcony. This was always a big joke when I was in travel school 15 yrs ago...If you booked an Ocean VIEW room you could stand on top your toilet, look out the window, at 4 pm when the palm trees swayed just the right direction you could see the beach! Seriously, tho, the majority of the condos are beach front w/their units built higher so you can have a great view of the beach and gulf.

Agree w/Rocketman, just call the owners and ask them about their unit, the decor, when was the last time they refurbished the room, do they have pix they can send you etc. Then tell them you have 2 kids and want the best deal available. I do this daily in my travel agency searching for cruises and vacation packages so they%26#39;re not surprised when you call asking for that.

Hope this helps. Stay posted here to TA for the best info about the BEST beaches in the States!!

We stayed at Seychelles in December of 2008 and loved it, excellent beachview. Rented vrbo #188133, owner was wonderful to work with, and unit was great. I called the owner on a Tuesday and she called me right back and on Friday afternoon we were there. It was a little smaller that the units at Treasure Island and Gulf Crest but it worked for us over our weekend stay. They have two pools of which one is heated, exerice room, game room, and excellent security. It is within walking distance to the St Andrews Park, places to eat, and Schooners next door. Decor was new and the beds were very comfortable, king bed with amazing mattress in master, bunk bed in second bedroom, with full size on bottom. Everything we needed was there, I joked and said that we had never stayed at a condo that gave us regular size bars of soap, we always would get baby soaps. The owners really make you feel special and will help in any way. We will call again and rent from them.

All of the rooms at Seychelles are Gulf view. The balconies all face the beach. Our family stayed there last summer and we loved it. The plus side to having the balcony face the beach is that the front door to all the condos face the bay. We were on the 21st floor and the view out the back was just a good as the view to the front. We were able to watch the boats come and go including the big Captian Anderson dinner cruiser. We could see the Boatyard and the Treasure Ship. The pirate cruise also leaves from the Boatyard and we enjoyed watching it. The Sea Screamer also comes by Seychelles daily in the summer and shots a cannon at Schooners. It was a lot of fun to see it everyday, but be prepared for the big BOOM!.

I have used VRBO and have found that many of the owners will negotiate pricing as well as the deposit. It is always worth a try.

As far as decor, it is always a risk. That is why I like to used VRBO so you can see photos of the condo before booking. If the owner uses up to date furnishing I would think that the mattresses would also be new. We had a fabulous condo with wonderful furnishings.

Good Luck and enjoy the beach!

thank you so much for all of the info, all four of you. i really appreciate it.

luv2b - thank you for the vrbo#.
