Hi everyone,
My husband %26amp; I are planning a vacation in Florida in April. Our flight is to Forth Lauderdale, but don%26#39;t think that would be our ideal place for a romantic vacation.
So appreicate your suggestions for somewhere fun %26amp; romantic not too far from Forth Lauderdale, with affordable nice resort, a good beach is important for sure:).
Thanks a lot,

Do not be offended but it is Fort Lauderdale, not Forth. :)
Fort Lauderdale does have a beautiful beach with many hotels located on or near the beach. Some recommendations include dinning/cocktails on Las Olas (a pedestrian-friendly, boutique/restaurant filled, area), dinner somewhere on the beach (perhaps Shula%26#39;s for an award-winning steak), dessert at Jackson%26#39;s Ice-Cream (nationally reknowned, homemade, old-fashioned ice-cream parlor) for some fun.
Of course there are other things to do for fun. Perhaps a drive out to the Everglades for an airboat ride and view a little nature. Go down to South Beach to see the sites and beach.
A lot depends on if you are planning on renting a car or not. If not, you might not want to go too far away as the taxi cost will not be pleasant.

I think Venis3%26#39;s suggestions are spot on. Fort Lauderdale is what you make it and it%26#39;s certainly a good place to visit. Perhaps with a little research you could find something in the town to suit.
I think the poster is operating under the common misconception that Ft. Lauderdale is a noisy, low class Spring Break haven- which it has not been for 10+ years now. It actually is quite upscale- we have a Ritz Carlton Hotel and several other luxury properties and when you look for lodging you will likely find that the prices blow you away!
Many people do make this their honeymoon destination- and I will say that other than the Keys- anywhere from 2-4 hrs driving- I can%26#39;t think of any nearby area more romantic than here! Most would agree that our 6 mile beach is better than the Keys, where the beach tends to be pretty rocky. I guess Sanibel Island might work too- about 2 hrs west ,as is Naples.
Most of our hotels are across the street from the beach rather than directly on it as the beach is almost all public property.
You might visit www.sunny.org our local tourism website and explore some of the hotel possdibilities.
Thanks everyone and sorry about the typo. So I think you are right, and Fort Lauderdale could be our destination in fact!!
So appreicate your suggestions for fun %26amp; romantic activities and dining options there. I have heard about a boat tour which is apparently famous in Lauderdale, but not sure which boat cruise it is, so appreciate your help:)
Thanks again!!
