Staying in St Pete Beach from 14th - 26th March

Hi everyone, myself and my girlfriend will be coming to St Pete%26#39;s Beach soon (you may have guessed this from the title). We%26#39;re staying at the Beachcomber.

Neither of us drive, so we will be relying on a combination of our legs and the Beach Trolley service. I was just wondering, has anyone had any experience of getting from St Petes to Clearwater by beach trolley? It looks (from the maps) like the journey might take quite a long time, and use up quite a lot of our time. We want to go to clearwater to play minigolf, visit pier 60 and go to Caladesi Island, can anyone suggest any other activities around Clearwater?

Also, are there busses from St Pete to Tampa? I%26#39;d really like to visit the Aquarium there, and I think there%26#39;s a zoo somewhere around there too.

Thanks in advance for your help, Martyn

The drive along the coast from St. Pete Beach to Clearwater Beach, really doesn%26#39;t take that long. It%26#39;s about a 30-35 minute drive. I%26#39;ve never done it on the trolley, so I really don%26#39;t know how much time would be added by it making stops along the way.

There are buses that go from Pinellas County (St. PeteBeach) over to Hillborough (Tampa), but it will not be the most convenient of trips, and I don%26#39;t know how many trips they make between the two areas per day, but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s that many. Check at www.psta.net .

You might enjoy the Clearwater Marine Aquarium near Clearwater Beach. It%26#39;s a sealife rescue/rehab facility that offers tours.

In Tampa, there is Lowrey Park Zoo, but it is not near the Florida Aquarium, so it would add time to get there taking the buses.

hey martyn, you really dont need to go to clearwater for those activities. and yes, the travel will take some time especially with the trolley service. you can try dolphin landings for sailing trips, rides out to shell island or egmont key...awesome!!!

727-360-7411 if you are into deepsea fishing they also have a wonderful 34 foot sportfishing boat and a captain that knows where to find the fish. good luck!!

Thanks for your advice guys, I think we%26#39;ll try going to Clearwater a couple of days, we%26#39;d really like to go the Pier 60 for all the crafts/performers.

We%26#39;re also going to visit Johns Pass, and the mini golf near there (where we can feed alligators!). We%26#39;re also going to try getting to Caladesi island, I%26#39;m sure that%26#39;ll be quite a mission!

Thanks again!

Just want to be sure you are aware the minigolf where you can feed the gators, is not on Clearwater Beach. It is in Clearwater, on the mainland, just South of the intersection of Gulf-To-Bay Blvd, and US19. It will be about a 15-20 minute drive from the beach.

There%26#39;s a gator-feeding mini-golf in Madiera Beach, too, just north of John%26#39;s Pass. I think it%26#39;s called Smuggler%26#39;s Cove, and would be more convenient as it%26#39;s right on the trolley line.

Thanks, I did actually mean the one in Madeira beach, methinks we can walk there from St Johns pass.

Thanks for the warning though.
