So far I can see you have made 3 mistakes.

1st, flying into Punta Gorda.

2nd, Do not want to rent a car in South West Florida.

3rd! Staying at the Lani Kai! Resort? your killing me. Have you ever been down here before? Got to love it. Enjoy my friend. Oh, they are only kidding about the the Stingrays and Jellyfish. Those are only up in Jersey.

Unless you are a college kid going down for Spring Break and plan to do nothing but drink 24 hrs a day Lani Kai is a DUMP!

I would advise you to carefully read ALL of the reviews of the Lana Kai. Fort Myers beach has many nice condo%26#39;s and hotels. I want you to enjoy your vacation so just look at the reviews and make sure this is the place for you.

Why is it a mistake flying into Punta Gorda? My family and I are flying into Punta Gorda. The airfare was $800 for four roundtrip tickets. Flying into Fort Myers would have been double the cost.

Nothing is wrong with it unless you think you%26#39;ll be near Ft. Myers Beach after flying in...2.5+ hours depending on what time....

The Punta Gorda airport is actually only about 45 miles north of Fort Myers Beach....just before the one plane of the day lands they send a dog out to chase the stray cows off the runway.....it is off mile marker 161 on I-75. Daniels parkway (to the beach) is mile marker 131...and then about another 10-15 miles to the beach itself...ironically, as Beach mentions....the vast majority of your 2+ travel time will not be sent traveling the first 43 miles...it will be the last two....unless you fly in at 2:00am !!

That%26#39;s ok, I%26#39;ll sacrifice the time it takes to get to the beach to save almost $800.

Everyone%26#39;s going to get into traffic going to FMB anyway.

I would book my own tickets if I were you. Saving $800.00. That is what I paid to fly a family of four to RSW, (FT MYERS) round trip all together! Check South West. Remember, you have to fly out of Punta Gorda as well. Good Luck.

I did book my own tickets. It%26#39;s very expensive to fly during Easter week. It was between $1600 and $2000 to fly into RSW for a family of 4. As I said,my family saved $800 flying into PGD. We%26#39;ve flown in and out of PGD in the past and have had no problems. I guess we%26#39;ll see....
