Hi all, I am looking for advice from those that live there, have been there or have knowledge of FLL :)
If you had friends that were going to be in FLL once and only for two days...
what do you personally think are the Don%26#39;t Misses? or the best deals you want to share :)
advice on the city, people, how to get around..
We are staying at Tropirock (so you know where we are situated) and coming Mid April.
Because we are going to be there Easter weekend, car rentals are $100+ for the day - so we are thinking we may cab it to our hotel and then walk, bus, cab or tour bus around.
We have talked to our friends about and read up on tripadvisor about FLL and we are thinking; time at the beach, cafe on the beach to people watch (any recommendations?) an everglades boat ride and maybe a cruise to look at the nice houses would be in.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
two days in FLL prior to a cruise
I%26#39;m not sure how you would get to the Everglades to take an airboat ride without a car, perhaps some of the parks may have transport to pick you up. Certainly if you can get there it%26#39;s a pleasant way to spend a half day.
You could spend a day hopping on and off the water taxi $13 per person all day ticket. Using that you would see the mansions and yachts on the intracoastal and you could have lunch on Las Olas. The nearest water taxi stop to the Tropi Rock is Seville Street and it%26#39;s whistle stop so as soon as you see the water taxi you need to wave them over.
two days in FLL prior to a cruise
water taxi... awesome idea... I%26#39;ll look it up and do some reading. Thanks so much. um, I actually don%26#39;t know where the everglades are :) I%26#39;ll check that out... any companies that stand out as being really popular?
Two of the most popular are Sawgrass Recreation
tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g34227-d20鈥?/a>
and
www.evergladesholidaypark.com
I think Sue preferred the open airboat at Sawgrass- the other place has a covered roof boat- both are fine and at least one should be able to get you transported for a fee- but it is about an hour west of the beach by car- after all , it%26#39;s a swamp!
Are you the Cooper from the Vegas Forum? If so, you%26#39;re the second Vegas poster who has popped over ! I think I remember reading your posts there !
I agree that Water Taxi is a must !
lulu, yes its me and I saw you were on here, I was hoping you would reply :)
I have not been on the LAS forum much as we are just busy busy these days. Who else is over here that I would know?
Well, Dr. Vegas is AWOL, and StaunchSteve keeps coming back with new screen names and getting banned again- but mostly the usual folks- Bridgefan still tells everyone not to post and that they are stupid etc- I got to meet Topeka Ducky and a few others last December- we were there last in February (at the Nugget) and hope to go back this summer.
Compared to the Vegas Forum, our Forum is a lovefest- we all pretty much get along and then some- except that snotty person(likely the owner) the other day who took exception to my not recommending the Duck boat- which I would urge you to miss also unless you are fond of tourist traps!
This is a great place to visit- what cruise are you taking? I can see the ships leaving from my window! Tropi-Rock is cute - good choice! I think I%26#39;ll be in town- we may have to meet!
Oh, misread that- I don%26#39;t think anyone else locally posts on the Vegas Forum except Sue (above) who is from UK and likes to go out to the fights there when they can. I think lots of folks here would like to go to Vegas though- and there are a few locals here ( like OaklandParkMark) who post on that Forum ,but never on this one- go figure!
we are going on a HAL cruise - Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, St Thomas and Puerto Rico.
We are flying in standby on Easter weekend... did not realize that when we booked the cruise unfortunately.
We are monitoring the flight loads. For now, we are hopeful we will come in Thursday afternoon, we have to work on Wednesday and take the red eye to Toronto wed night, then fly out mid day on Thursday, I suspect by the time we get in on Thursday, we are going to be good to sleep :)
do you wanna pm me and we can discuss further?
I heard ss was coming back, and doc disappeared.
I think it had something to do with a M%26amp;G last Dec but can%26#39;t be sure.
Bridge... ugh, Can%26#39;t stand her way with people. Seriously.... what could be so wrong with her that she just feels the need to be so nasty to people? put them down? Often, it is a sign of ones own insecurities when they feel the need to put down everyone else. I wish they would ban her!
As Lulu mentioned, although there are a few exceptions, we%26#39;re really very friendly here. I never understand people who think they have to be nasty - it%26#39;s such a stupid waste of time - and negative karma usually comes back to bite you sooner or later.
Come to FLL-home of the positive karma forum!! :)
thanks all, when I have time this weekend, I am certain I will have more questions :)
