Do I need water shoes for ocean swimming?

We are heading down in a few weeks and my DH%26#39;s feet are very sensitive to a rocky beach...

Should I purchase water shoes or is the sand on the ocean floor soft? (sounds funny, I know).

If you are going out to Fort Zach, you will certainly need water shoes. They have them in all the drug stores here.

You%26#39;re best off bringing shoes.... Some places have more then others, but many will have at least a few feet of rockyness till you get to the sand.

If you don%26#39;t want to bring water shoes with you, Walgreens and CVS will have them when you arrive. They are not expensive.
