My family is planning on going to Sandestin the first week of June. Are the crowds already bad by then or is that early enough to beat the big summer rush?

It will definitely be busy - but no where near as busy as at the end of June - July.

Glad to hear it! We%26#39;re coming the 1st week in June too and was a little worried. :-)
We usually come to Destin anywhere from the first to third week of June. Unfortunately this year we%26#39;re coming the first of of July. I know it%26#39;s going to be crazy busy, but the alternative is to not go at all! That is just not acceptable, lol.
A lot of schools won%26#39;t let out until the 1st week of June. The beach picks up Memorial Day week but doesn%26#39;t get crazy until all of the schools let out in mid-June.
Check out Fat Clemenza%26#39;s (west on 98) for Italian and great european style pizza. Dynasty Chinese (west on 98) has the best egg rolls! We%26#39;re also fans of Ciao Bella pizza at the outlet mall. Bayou Bills east on 98 has opened back up and is really good. All of these are close to Sandestin.
