I went into our local Firstchoice travel agency today and asked when their Florida brochure was out for summer 2010. Was told it would be at the end of this month.
However she gave me a Jetsave brochure and told me it was part of Firstchoice group and that it had really fantastic deals on for next year, like free child places for all children. I asked if they were on line and she said ';No, but I can get you a quote now.'; I had the kids with me so said I%26#39;d check out the brochure and be in touch, she gave me her card to contact her.
Well she fibbed, they are on line.
But what a joke the child prices are. Turns out of course that they are only available at selected hotels on specific dates and place are limited. Otherwise they are only available during term time, 1st Nov to 16 Dec. Which is no good for me as I%26#39;d told the Firstchoice assistant we were going August 2010.
Also turns out that our 12 year old would be charged as an adult as their child prices only go up to age 11.
Done a price comparison with Virgin,
Virgin = Bahama Bay, 16 nights, Aug = 拢5046
Jetsave = Bahama Bay 16 nights, Aug = 拢5201
(Jetsave was also with Virgin flights)
I also checked out their suites. These are sold excluding flights, they want 拢800 for just 5 nights and and then %26#39;from%26#39; 拢100/night for each additonal night. Which probably means we would have to pay more for August!
Oh well, looks like they were not such a good offer from Firstchoice after all!
Guess you might already know this, they are also offering Disney Dining plan for 1st August through to 18th November 2010 at their moderate and delux resorts. I didnt know that was on offer already for next summer. Anyway thats no good for my family, for 5 of us its still waaaayyy out of our budget even with free tucker!

Going this aug and hope to go next as well - my sister booked through virgin for 2010, but i am going to wait for virgins Jan sales to book my flights, then i will sort out accommodation.

Jetsave summer 2010
I know your disapointed,as you might remember, i was checking back and forth with any travel company against virgin, in the end we have went with virgin as all other operators wanted 拢1000 each for oct next year, or based on this years oct prices.The thing witht the disney dinning plan is typical, always on the expensive hotels. never the cheaper, the deluxe are really really expensve, you could go to sandles for the price they want, keep ckecking virgin all the time and seee what you get, i booked with thomos cook through virgin and still got very close to the price i got on the internet.
Thanks Bargainchris, I might be in touch with you, could do with some tips to guide me through the maze of booking it all seperately! Read you got a really good deal in my other thread about %26#39;August, wot did you pay, when did you book%26#39; etc. Ive already picked up a lot on here. So trying not to worry that the 拢5000 plus prices for a package will be out of our reach and that we can get it nearer to the 拢4000-拢4500 Im prepared to shell out.
Have decided we are going next year either in June or October - depends when Harry Potter is open. We are only going to go for a week - 10 days this time. Have been keeping up to date with the threads posted about prices for next year. They are dear so I think I%26#39;m going to book things separately. But what I can%26#39;t get over is the cost of the passes now, I know the exchange rate is poor but come on!!!
Thanks Durhamhazey, I shouldnt be disappointed, but am. We have been 4 times with our own brood so cant complain. We just wanted to share that with our long term foster kids who are great little mites.
Trouble is that bloomin Tinkerbell dust gets right under the skin and dont think there is any cure for it. Thought I%26#39;d got cured after nearly 7 years, but clearly I havnt. Once we started thinking about it I was hooked. i spend a ridiculous amount of time on this board.
BUT I am convinced in my bones (yeah the disney disease goes that deep!) that we will get there next year. Im not a very patient person but will have to deveop some. I wont rest now until we are booked!
weloveholidays, ahh i know what you mean, last year when we went i said thats it, ive had enough, but after about 6 months it starts to creep back in again, you see it advertisedon the tv and think, yeah its so good, then thats it the mission starts, im glad im booked up now, to be honest i dont think you are going to get cheaper than virgin, even doind it yourself. big companys can get huge disounts that we just cant get, the last poster is so right about the park tickets, disneys are ridiculous, im sure i paid around 165 last year and that was for a 14 day ticket, and now most prices are at least 220, its a hell of a jump, i might just buy a magic your way ticket as it looks like it will save me money, also going to keep a eye on the dollar and try and buy as it goes up again.did you try thomas cook to see what price they came up with. its worth the phone call.
