I remember this time last year, there was a very dry and windy spell with a lot of bush fires. How is the situation going this year? Any problems, or was last year an exception?
Any bush fire risks yet?
We%26#39;ve had some brush fires this year already and an area of Groveland had to evacuate.
I hope you are being careful while making fires at your campsites.

tis the season...
Not sure of any now in the area... usually a bit further north and or east of Orlando/Kissimmee so not always in the news. There were a few small ones more locally about a month ago as I recall - certainly not a one off thing last year it was simply worse. Some other states are having a rough go...
We had a rather favorable season for intentional fires; one winter day, gentle ground fires were burning quite close to the Florida Turnpike on state lands south of Orlando. Most of the fuel was grass and saw palmetto leaves. The palmettos resprout quickly.
We are now into the season for severe wildfires, the sort that can gobble up houses.
The severity of the spring fire season depends on dryness (a drought index is used) and the low humidity and wind on a particular day. The drought index is pretty high on the Florida peninsula, so things might get bad in the next six weeks, until rain begins to fall around the start of June. Meanwhile, the northern part of the state is flooding.
Thanks - hope things don%26#39;t get too bad. I often find it difficult to believe Florida can get as dry!!
