Key Largo or Islamadora in August?

My husband and I want to plan a 5 day vacation Aug 14 to Aug 19. I%26#39;ve heard some horror stories about hurricanes and storms in August in the Caribbean/Florida. Are storms a problem in August in The Upper Keys? If so, where would anyone recommend? We want beaches, relaxation, romance, and sun!!!!! Thank you!

You can%26#39;t predict when we will have a hurricane. The season starts in June %26amp; ends in December. Not much you can do except make your plans and hope for the best. Typically September seems to be the worst month. But we have been to the keys in September and also went to Cancun one year in September. Had great weather both times. August is also the hottest time of year in Florida. The keys are a little cooler as you get the seabreezes but can stil be extremely hot.

The Keys are not known for their beaches. Some areas do have ';little'; beaches, but .....the waters are gorgeous however. We frequent the Keys and prefer Islamorada. Lots of great spots and dining. There is a small beach there called ';Anne%26#39;s Beach'; and resorts like Cheecha Lodge (if it reopened?) has a beach.

Cheeca Lodge has had a 2nd fire. No telling when they will reopen. Look at the Islander Resort or Carribean resort in Islamorada, Kon Kai in Key Largo, Tranquility Bay in Marathon. Or try Key Colony Beach in Marathon. Nice place with duplex units on canals with access to the Cabana Club and a decent beach. There%26#39;s also the Continental Inn in KCB that is right on the beach.
