First Choice/Thomson, flights pre bookable seats !!

Hi all, I have booked through First Choice, but understand by the time we fly on 19th June they will be Thomson.

My question is, I have paid 拢70 for pre bookable seats. I have tried to phone and request seats but keep getting conflicting advice. Sometimes they say not until 60 days can you book seats, and other times they say you can not request seats, so what have we actually paid for then,

I want to try to get either emergency door seats for two of us or be behind dividing wall so we have slightly more leg room.

has anyone flown with them lately and where you able to pre book seats ?

Thanks in advance

First Choice/Thomson, flights pre bookable seats !!

Hi Caroline,

We booked our trip with First Choice last Tuesday and we asked if we could go online or phone up and pre book our seats and we were definately told no, you couldnt do it. The extra money that was paid, i believe, is to guarantee that we are all sitting together. They told us that if we didnt pay the extra, it might mean only one of us sitting with our nearly 3 year old for the whole 9 hours!!! We are flying next fri, 24th so are intending to get to the airport nice and early and request seats with plenty of room for her to play and move around. I will let you know how it goes when we return,

Claire.

First Choice/Thomson, flights pre bookable seats !!

Thanks for that Claire, I am a single mum taking 4 children, my eldest daughter is 19yrs old and my son is 14yrs, and two others are 3yrs and will just be 13 months, so was hoping to be able to book seats with extra leg room.

Oh well, we live 20 mins from the airport so may go down extra early on the morning we fly or maybe go the night before and book in, hopefully we will be able to get extra leg room then.

Good luck on your holiday and hope you have a wonderful time with your little one.

Let us all know how you got on when you return,

Caroline

The extra leg room seats are usually the exit row seats. They don%26#39;t allow children to sit on the exit rows for safety reasons.

We tried to pre-book seats too, we did it last year, booked our seats online, but this year they are not allowing it for some reason.

It%26#39;s a real pain if there is a big group of you, all with seperate surnames, as they assume you are all travelling as individuals rather than a party.

Even trying to book in early is a nightmare as they shove too many different flights through one area.

Last year at Gatwick we got to check-in 4 hours before our flight and stood for 3 hours trying to get our bags checked in, so we didn%26#39;t have long to get our duty free and unwind before the flight.

It has been suggested to me that if you live or stay close enough the twilight check in is worth considering. However that%26#39;s not practicle for us as we live 3 hours away from Gatwick, but if you live close to the airport it might be worth looking into.

Good luck.

Hi,

I%26#39;ve been told that seats can be booked 6 weeks prior to your departure date, as from the beginning of May, apparently both Thomson %26amp; First Choice systems should have merged completely %26amp; they can then take these requests.

They also advised that seat allocation is loaded up 2-3 days before the flight, so you may not have any luck with changing your seats at check-in:(

I%26#39;d try calling them %26amp; see what they say at the beginning of May.

Hope this helps %26amp; have a great time in Florida! We nromally go each year to Orlando but off to try Kenya instead this year with First Choice.

H, Just to confirm what you have paid for is to ensure your party sit together. However 6 weeks before you can call up and pay a further 拢10 pp to choose select a seat which allows you to choose specific seats but not exit rows as these are a further charge again!! Have you checked out the cost for Premium Seating as from Glasgow in June it is costing 拢99 each instead of 拢199. If you choose this option you get the cost of your prebooked seats refunded.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, I will look into it, and see how much to upgrade. I will let you all know,

The airlines are very cheeky and good at getting extra money from you with all these choices. very naughty really.

No problem Cazkatjoe hope it works out for you.
