Jelly fish in July

My family has a condo reserved for the end of July and First of August at the Pelican Isle. I%26#39;m looking forward to our trip but was curious about the jellyfish. I got to thinking and each time during the summer that I have been there the jellyfish were terrible. Was that just a coincidence or is it like that during the summer?

Jelly fish in July

Can%26#39;t say they won%26#39;t be there but last year was the only year I%26#39;ve been to Destin and seen lots of jellyfish.

The jellyfish are totally unpredictable. If you have encountered bad jellyfish on multiple vacations, you have been very unlucky. Usually they are no problem.

Jellyfish season starts the last part of July through August. Sorry for the bad news! My family and I go every year and we found this out 2 years ago on our trip to the emergency room. The nurse told us of the ';jellyfish season';. So now we go right after Memorial Day to the first of June.

I am with Hawkfish on this one - no one can predict jellyfish season (except Mother Nature) I have seen a whole lot more times without jellyfish then with - but last year was exceptionally bad (worldwide)

The nurse lied. There is no such thing as JellyFish Season. She was ignorant.

JellyFish are totally unpredictable.

I guess I have been lucky! In my 6 trips to Destin I have never even seen a jellyfish!

Although there IS a 100% percent chance that there will be jellyfish in the ocean all through July.

I%26#39;m no marine biologist, but I did stay at a Holiday in Express last night.

Well the Holiday Inn%26#39;s not working for you too well. Destin is on the gulf not the ocean.

I still think the most reliable source of information is Semco%26#39;s crystal ball.

Suma - I believe what the HI Express expert was saying is that there is a 100% chance that there will be jellyfish in the ocean, gulf, wherever, but nobody really knows if they will be abundant and in close to the shore though...

Suma- technically claiming the gulf is oceanfront is accepable according to wiki:

QUESTION: Is the Gulf of Mexico an ocean?

ANSWER:

It is a gulf by title, but part of the Atlantic ocean. It is a gulf because it is semi-surrounded by land on more than one side.
