Ok, I just have to rant for a moment.
We are considering a trip to the Hollywood area this summer. (Sorry - love Orlando, but this trip is a little cheaper and something that we haven%26#39;t done before)
I actually considered it last summer, combined with a San Diego, Disneyland, etc trip. The people on the LA and Anaheim forums are so rude. They slam you for everything. (I know, this forum will occasionally have some of that too) , but it was so bad, I cancelled the reservations we had made, and we came to Florida for 8 days last summer instead. (It was fabulous , by the way :) )
I%26#39;ve been scanning the LA forum for information. Not really asking any questions, because I see how that went already. Today, a lady from Scotland who is going across the US on a once in a lifetime trip was asking what she could do in a day and a half. Wow, the insults came in. Things about their county alone had more people than Scotland. That they were a huge city and why would so many people live there if it could all be seen in a short time.....
All she wanted to know was if she could hit the highlights in her short time, and what were they?
I chimed in and gave her a few tips (because that%26#39;s all I know....) and defeneded her. I am sure the responses will be deafening.
I know that sometimes that different people will ask the same questions over and over. That%26#39;s because they weren%26#39;t on the forum 6 months ago when it was asked. New travelers join in all the time. They ask those questions because they%26#39;re at the beginning of their planning process. You don%26#39;t get your answers by using the search box either.
I want to THANK all of you for answering those questions. For giving advice, no matter how many times you have given it. Thanks Kats Club Fan, Partypa, and Amanx for your help and to everyone else who chimes in on this friendly forum. (No wonder Florida has so many visitors ;) )
Ok, I%26#39;m done. I know I look like a sap......but it%26#39;s been one of those mornings and I%26#39;m in a mood.
Thank You Florida !
I know what you mean checkers, I was on the LA forum last year and while no-one was rude to me, I did see some examples of what you are talking about. You have to word your questions really carefully and give so much detail or else you will be slammed. That said, there were some great people on the LA forum. I have found the rudest forum to be the Las Vegas one, most people are lovely, but there is a definite vocal minority of rude people!
This forum is definitely the friendliest and also one of the most fun. Thank you to all the DE%26#39;s and regulars who make it so!
Thank You Florida !
If you can%26#39;t say something nice, don%26#39;t say anything at all... as my mother used to say :)
Personally... if a thread irritates me, I just don%26#39;t reply to it... such as tipping debates. But people asking genuine questions I%26#39;ll try to help out. Just because I live here and know this place like the back of my hand, it can be overwhelming for newcomers.
Disney alone is 40sq miles... if you%26#39;ve never visited here, that is hard to imagine.
Knowing the alliances that the theme park corporations have formed is also something you wouldn%26#39;t know unless you%26#39;re entrenched in it, so questions about park tickets don%26#39;t bother me either :)
Maybe it%26#39;s the pixie dust that keeps us all happy.
On behalf of Florida, you%26#39;re welcome!
As I lived in Los Angeles before Orlando, I used to pop into the L.A. forum to answer questions but got sick of the rudeness myself. I%26#39;m always willing to answer questions about the SoCal area though, so feel free to ask or to pass my name along to someone else.
To this day, my favorite Disney park is... Disneyland! Let the bombardment of my blasphemy begin!
I did the roadtrip through CA a couple years ago with my kids and had so much fun! Make sure if you hit San Fran to get your Alcatraz tickets online at least a week before you go...we didn%26#39;t and the kids were disappointed. And if you get close to the National Forests..they are amazing and the kids will really be awstruck!
Just popped over to the LA forum, that poor lady. she asked a perfectly reasonable question, and the rudenes and downright ignorance she was met with, shocked me!
I have been to the US many times, to diffrent states, and have found everyone in the places Ive been to, lovely and very friendly, If they are like that in LA, I think I wont bother venturing there!!
PS, Big hugs and kisses to Florida!! Cant wait till September!!! XXX
I found that on the Las Vegas forums when i asked for a good hotel to stay with our Grandchildren you would have thought i wanted to nuke the place lol,but then I love a good arguement so it was fun for a while .
Hi I just had to check out the LA forum and i was quite shocked at how this Ladies question was answered.
We live in Northern Ireland and when we were thinking about going to Florida for the 1st time we came on to this site and i have to say that everyone on here has been so great on giving us great advice. It really made our holiday as we had got so many great ideas on where to stay etc..
So A Big Thank-you to everyone on here who takes the time to help out with all the different questions.
Thanks....Caroline
Try the Anaheim forum. There seems to be DE%26#39;s there that are willing to answer questions.
