Cocoa Beach or St Augustine?

I have a business trip in Orlando this spring, I%26#39;m wondering which is better for a long weekend - St Augustine or Cocoa Beach?

It will be me and my husband hopign to enjoy some beautiful scenery, warm weather (we%26#39;re from MN), and pool time, hopefully with a few good attractions to see.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Bree

Cocoa Beach or St Augustine?

Cocoa Beach and St. Augustine are very different from each other. Orlando is only 1 hours drive. St. Augustine about 2.5. St. Augustine is more romantic, has a main street with lots of shops, retaurants, bars, etc you can walk to. Horse drawn carriage rides and lots of B%26amp;B%26#39;s. Cocoa Beach has imho better beaches compared to St. Augustines beaches and they are, not as tourist oriented except for Ron Jons and some t-shirt shops. The space center is 5 miles north, visit Cocoa Village shops across the causeway with small shops, good restaurants, etc. Both areas are nice.

It looks like the weekend we would be there is the weekend of the Ron Jon Surfing Festival in Cocoa Beach - do you think this will be the type of event that takes over the town?

Here is a link with video of the surf fest

Being Easter weekend it will be fun but crowded. Not sure about taking over the town, however it%26#39;s a lot of young kids and college kids. If you stay in a hotel away from the pier it will be quieter. You could stay in Cape Canaveral or down here in Melbourne / Indialantic. There are a few hotels on the beach and you are about 20 minutes from Cocoa Beach. Easter week is spring break time for a lot of Florida schools.

personally i would choose st aug , reason being i like a bit of sight seeing %26amp; life , whem i visited cocoa beach it was very quiet , restaurants were pretty empty %26amp; in general i found the place more run down than st augustine

if you just want to bum around you may prefer cocoa beach

Been to both and have to say St Augusine(in my opinion) is much nicer. However as previous poster stated it is over 2 and half hours away from Orlando-but worth the trip.
