Taking two boys, age 7 and 5 and a 8month old baby to Disney World the week of July 19th. Hubby has a conferece at the Gaylord Palms, but we can stay anywere at Disney. Lots of questions!!
1. What is the do-not-miss attractions for our group? Is there a park in particular that caters more to the family with little kids? I%26#39;m wanting to make sure we don%26#39;t spend a full day somewhere that has a lot of ';big kid'; rides but not a lot for ';shorter'; people!
2. We can stay anywhere there...should we stay at a resort that has the monorail going right through it? Is that convenience worth spending a little more?
3. WE thought about the Wilderness cabins, thinking they might be more roomy. Is it very inconvenient to get to parks from here? Ive read it takes long, but no one has specifically said what ';long'; is...an hour? Two?
4. any suggestions traveling with an 8 month old at Disney World in July? I%26#39;m new at this and want to plan for whatever I can!
That%26#39;s all I can think of for now, but any suggestions, ideas, advice is greatly appreciated!
1st time at Disney with three kids...HELP!
Hello mommyoftwo,
The Magic Kingdom is the park you want to focus on.
And because the MK is right on the monorail system, I do recommend you choose one of the 3. It%26#39;ll take you just minutes to arrive at the MK which is a wonderful perk especially when traveling with a 8 month old.
As far as advice with traveling with a 8 month old in July, brace yourself for oppressive heat and humidity so you%26#39;ll have to keep everyone plenty hydrated. Also brace yourself for it to be really crowded and utilize your fast pass options. Check out www.allearsnet.com for a wealth of other great information.
1st time at Disney with three kids...HELP!
I highly recomend the Polynesian or the Wilderness Lodge but the Wilderness Cabins are not bad for transport if you go that route.
Magic Kingdom is of course great and you could spend several days having fun. The other 3 Parks will also have Lots to do and see, I would visit them all. I would also add a day at one of the Waterparks, it will be very Hot and you%26#39;ll need to Pace yourselves and take nice afternoon breaks when the crowds and heat reach their Peaks
You will have a Swell Time

Decide on the Resort and take it from there, you have time and we%26#39;re all here to help :)
Hello, I concur with the above poster. Stay at one of the hotels closest to the MK. The Polynesian, Contemporary or Grand Floridean. The wilderness lodge is not too far, you can take the ferry to/from the MK and for other parks you can take the bus. It wouldn%26#39;t take all that long.
It will be very hot in July so plan to have maybe a pool day in there so everyone can relax and this way you can rest in your room and head out later in the evening. The Poly has the monorail and has a great island feel to it. You can view the fireworks from the beach there (they pipe in the music) if the kids are too tired to head back to the MK to watch them.
Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary is a great place for the kids to eat and the Crystal Palace at the MK is great too. You can make dining reservations 90 days in advance of your arrival. The dining plan is a great way to enjoy your vacation and it will save you money.
You can check menus at www.allears.net, just click the dining option.
I always tell everyone to stay on these boards. These DE%26#39;s and everyone else has helped me plan my trip in 12 days and just when you think you know everything about Disney, you learn more and more.
Happy Planning. Molly
OK I am a single mum and will be going again in June, with 4 children ranging from 19yrs to 13 months.
Please stay in a Disney hotel if you can the coaches leave for the parks every 20 mins so no need to rush at all, if little one needs changing just as you are leaving, no panik, another coach will come along in a minute.
Heat will be a problem, but just be prepared.
Concentrate on Magic Kingdom, it really is the best for that age. The other park I would visit, it Animal Kingdom, there is Dinoland here and the boys will enjoy that and also the animals.
Epcot is very relaxing but maybe not for the boys.
Hollywood studios is also good, so that may be worth a visit.
Agree with staying at a monorail resort. I%26#39;m sure the boys would love the Polynesian. The volcano at the pool, will capture their inner pirate! You will love the larger rooms, Poly food options, and ease of travel, to and from, the Magic Kingdom
MK should be your primary focus, but plan to stay long enough, to visit all 4 theme parks, a water park and an ';enjoy your resort day';.
Take Partypa%26#39;s advise and select your resort first. We%26#39;ll help you plan, from there!
I think we are leaning toward the Polonysian...sounds great! However, we are now considering leaving the baby at home with the grandparents and going with just the boys--if I can handle it! That would mean we would leave my mother in law at home too. The only problem I can see with this is that when I take the boys to the parks when my hubby is in meetings, it will be three of us, and my older boy is taller and able to ride the big rides, whereas my younger doesnt meet the height requirement. Any thoughts on this??? (the advise is all great, btw...thanks!)
Hi Mommyoftwo
Are You sure Your son can麓t ride things ?
How tall is he then ?
My little T was now 111 cm 6 years old is on the lowest scale for growing so I would think that Your boy is five could be about the same as her ?
She could go on most of the rides in The four parks.
Mutter
Hmmmm, I%26#39;m not sure, I just assumed he would be too little. (Even if he%26#39;s not, he is not near as brave as his older bro, so I%26#39;m afraid they will still want to do different things). But I%26#39;ll measure him in a bit then get back with you!!
Here is a Link to the Height Calculator, you might be surprised at just how much he can do. Our little 4 year old Princess was able to do ALOT this past November and the Boys ( 6 %26amp; 7 ) were able to do just about everything last June
www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/height.htm
My son went for his 5th birthday and rode almost everything - splash mountain, thunder rr, space mountain, test track, soarin....I think the only thing he would not have been able to ride would have been Tower of Terror....I think your 5 year old may be able to ride more than you think!
It may sound mean to leave the little one out, but I would highly recommend leaving the little one with the in laws if at all possible. I think it is a lot to ask of yourself to try and spread yourself over 3 children in a very busy park. The 8 month old won%26#39;t get much out of the experience but will likely demand a lot of your attention. I was wishing we had parents who were willing to keep our 14 month old! My daughter was 100 percent happier in the hotel room than at the park. Are your inlaws available for our next trip? :)
