I am visiting Orlando for the first time and thinking of subscribing to touringplans.com. Has anyone any advice on whether this is worthwhile or not. Am travelling with my 3 kids (1, 10 and 12) and mum and dad. Any suggestions on do%26#39;s and don%26#39;t would be appreciated. Thanks
touringplans.comWe used them last year and found the crowd levels they gave on the days of the week during our stay were not what we found so after 4 days we tore them up and did our own thing ,there cheap to join so its a personal choice.
touringplans.comtouringplans is good for helping you plan out what parks to visit on what days and what to ride or see first and so on but we can help you sort all that out right here on Trip Advisor if you%26#39;d like, we%26#39;re free :)
When are you going and where are you staying ? That%26#39;s always a good place to start so we can help steer you in a direction
We are travelling 15 April for two weeks. Hoping to do Disney Parks and Univeral, IOA, Aquatica, Seaworld in that time. Any suggestions of best days to go and how to plan this would be great as finding it all a bit confusing and want to make the most of our trip
Lot depends on the time of year you go - good to get advice for the peak times. Quieter times ( e.g. Oct , Nov ) the crowds are way less so not an issue.
We used them when went last Easter. Not sure if worth it as it didn%26#39;t help avoid crowds as everywhere was busy. We usually go end Oct when the crowds are not an issue.
Do%26#39;s and don%26#39;ts depends on personal preferences but acouple of points:-
careful what tickets you buy - tour operators will try to sell you Premium or Ultimate tickets which may or may not suit what you want to do. May be better looking at on line ticket agencies where more choice is offered. On the same point, have a plan of the parks you want to/ don%26#39;t want to do.
Visit the smaller parks first ( Seaworld, AK ) as you will get tired early in the first few days due to time difference.
Factor in some rest days as doing parks day after day will be tiring and can become a chore if your too tired to enjoy to the full.
The variety of food on offer is huge so take advantage. IMO avoid the cheap places like Ponderosa as the food is not good. For a little more you can get good quality and better value ( Cracker Barrel and Perkins for breakfast, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees, Bogards etc etc etc for dinner ).
ENJOY !!
just spotted you are going in April.
Unless the recession has hit attendances hard it will be busy so worth planning your days without being too anal about it.
Touring plans show their crowd calendar for free a month in advance so you don%26#39;t need to buy it, just view a couple of weeks before you go to see which parks are busiest on which days ( e.g MK is usually busiest on Sundays).
I subscribed to it and found the crowd calendar and planner useful.
They can%26#39;t always predict what%26#39;s going to happen. We went to the Magic Kingdom on a Friday when the crowd calendar said it wouldn%26#39;t be as busy and it was absolutely packed because of some student reward day or something. The book, however, ';The Unofficial Guide to Disneyworld'; that is associated with the website is very good and has several different touring plans ideas in the back.
Personally, I VERY highly recommend their book, ';THe UNofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2009.'; The book is a compendium of WDW facts, and is also written in a manner that is quite interesting and at times entertaining to read.
In addition, if you own the book you can subscribe to the touringplans.com website FOR FREE.
Wouldn%26#39;t bother buying books....as partypa says, you can get ALL your info on this forum, its free and friendly. Any and all questions, however small, will be answered on here by one or more posters.
Where are you staying and have you hired a car?
First time we went with our 2 small children was 20-odd years ago, it was a great package we had, and hey, what did we know. We hit the ground running from day 1, it was park after park after park. Then a week over at the gulf coast for relaxing (how we needed it lol), and we loved the whole experience.
20 + visits later and I would recommend the first day at SeaWorld, relaxing, no pressure, and lots of sitting-down shows outside but under cover from the hot sun. Thats a good breaker-in.
Your little one will def appreciate Magic Kingdom while the elder two will love Universal and Islands of Adventure...although there is something for everyone at all the parks. Can%26#39;t advise about Animal kingdom as we%26#39;ve never been, but we%26#39;ve all enjoyed all the other parks to the full.
Try doing a park one day, then either a water park or a home day around the pool etc. You can always go back to the park early evening when its cooled down a bit.
Kids are grown up now but me and hubby still go every year, sometimes twice as we just love the place. The odd time (if dads paying), they will come with their partners. We don%26#39;t always do the parks, but Florida has so much more to explore as well.
Don%26#39;t try to fit everything in this time as you will not succeed and its just too tiring, but plan and enjoy whatever you do, I guarantee you will want to come back again.
