I just wanted to post that I think it is crazy how much the airlines are trying to charge for airfare to get to Orlando for school vacation week! I understand the increase, but to charge $600 is a rip off. They are making it impossible for us to go on vacation which means everyone loses money. It is not always possible to plan these vacations months and months in advance.

So much for a recession!

Simple supply and demand fluid pricing.

It seems there are plenty of families still going on vacation to Otlando, possibly due to the new deals on accomodation onsite at both resorts.

The only way to get good deals these days is to book well in advance, or during sale periods. Some airlines like AirTran let you sign up for email alerts to tell you when they are having a sale. Try that.

Are you near an Airport that Southwest is available ? They have had some good prices lately, even for Peak Season

KROMO- That is the reason I take my kids out of school for the week. We have to pay for 8 flights. I went the week after Presidents week and the flights were a third of the cost.

Try booking direct with the cheaper airlines like suggested. Airtran, Jetblue and southwest. Try on a mid week night. Believe it or not the prices can change daily or hourly.

I have tried every which way to get a ';decent'; fare. My only hope is that somehow some airlines release some tickets. Keeping my fingers crossed.

What Airport/Airports are you needing to fly out of ? and what are your dates ?

flights right now on southwest from PVD or MHT are about $400

Sign up for the ';DING'; feature on the southwest site and you%26#39;ll get extra specials that they run everyday. They are to have new service out of Logan but not sure when that will start

Kromo thats really a bad price. I managed to get our whole family 2 adults and 2 children to orlando all the way from england for about 1500 dollors return i thought that was a great price as were are a long time away and its cheaper than the fair you was talking about only from america.

I really don%26#39;t understand all the articles about the supposed cheaper fares. We are paying $270 roundtrip on SW and paid $200 each just 2 years ago. Other airlines are even worse since they also charge $30 roundtrip for only one bag of checked luggage. We are going the last week in April, about the same time as last time, after spring break season.

Have you checked for airfare from smaller regional airports into Sanford airport just North of Orlando? If you really want to get there, also check fares into Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Punta Gorda...all served by ';second tier'; airlines from a number of regional airports around the country.
