La Creperie is gone

It burnt down last nite, as reported. But what a loss! La Creperie was one of those ';little known'; spots, a favorite with residents and long-time locals, as well as international cruise ship workers (looking for a comfortable, welcoming taste of home) and visitors who happened to stumble on it.

Here is a video from the La Creperie website, if you missed it.

And here are photos taken from atop the building which houses Jack Flat%26#39;s.

La Creperie owner Yolande Findaly watched it burn from Willie T%26#39;s. She is French and her priorities were clearly that everyone of her family and friends were healthy and unharmed, and that businesses can be rebuilt.

Her partner, Sylvie le Nouail, did not learn of the fire and loss of her business until 1AM. We, along with Fritz (brother of Martin, co-owner of Martin%26#39;s, two daily mainstays at La Creperie), all convened on Green Parrot. Green Parrot bartender Patrick saw the sorrow and took care of drinks.

There was laughter and there were tears, but more than anything it was friends together sharing sorrow and remembering past joys. Today, it is sadder than it was last night. Last night, it was a triumph, love over adversity, and gratitude for friends.

And yes, they are rebuilding. Better yet, it%26#39;s not the first time!

I hope to be one of the first there when they are back up and running!

Best of luck to them!

La Creperie is gone

Its so sad. It was such a neat little place. I hope they get back up and running asap. Martin will be at such a loss without his daily fix there.

Yes.. great place and it will be missed.

Best of luck and hope they are back up soon... Did Montage take any damage?

I%26#39;m glad we ate there last November. Bon chance Yolande %26amp; Sylvie.

Great little place and nice light snacks.

I hope it dosen%26#39;t take to much out of them to rebuild!

What a shame. That was a great little place and they did wonderful crepes. I hope they will be back.

Hi Mikemongo,

Thanks for the Update.

I have a request for any local who can help me out (and I can%26#39;t be the only tourist who is having a tough time remembering the lay of the land)... from the corner over could someone tell us the buisnesses in order... I know Margaritaville is at 500 Duval, but I was trying to recall if it was the building on the corner or not... and I know that Montage was next door... after that my memory fails me.... anyone who could help me fill in the blanks?

Just trying to visualize this whole scenario.

Cheers!

Does this help, wine?

Moving from Flemming towards upper Duval: Fast Buck Freddies, Marguritaville, Montage(b), Royal Arts(b), La Creppes(b), San Carlos Institute etc.

Shades of Crousants De France when it burned. It%26#39;s back and alive and I hope for the sake of the owners and the community that each of these places can come back better than before too.

All three business in the building next to Margaritaville took heavy damage. Royal Arts was completely gutted, and the building itself is severely damaged. I wish them all the best in getting back in business.
