Double strollers - what kind?

We%26#39;ll be taking our own stroller(s) with us to Disney. Again, I%26#39;ll have 3 yr old DD and 6 month old. I%26#39;m trying to decide which double stroller to purchase:

1. tandem (really long stroller where smaller kid sits behind the other kid) - on this one, each kid would have her own tray table with cup holder.

2. side by side (lower to ground though and no cup holder/tray table)

3. ...or thinking of taking 2 single strollers. That way if DH and I want to split up for a couple rides or something, we can each take a kid separately.

Any opinions from experienced parents?

Double strollers - what kind?

It%26#39;s whatever YOU are comfortable with..we did the 2 separate strollers. The only thing with the side by side is the bulkiness of it...in a crowded park it might be harder to maneuver.

Double strollers - what kind?

What about a sit-n-stand? We got one for our two kids when the second was born and we love it. Used it in Vegas, disney, you name it. The front is a regular seat and comes with an attachment so you can put a bucket in it and the back is a little platform and a little seat so the older child can stand or sit if they want. Its not as big as other doubles and it gives the older child options.

I rented a double stroller from a company in Orlando. It saved so much room in our car. It was very easy. (Maybe this could allow you to test drive one before you buy.) Also, I have heard this many times from other moms. The Disney strollers are so easy to use! They turn on a dime!

How do you know when your officially grown up? When you look at a double stroller and say with green eyes, O there%26#39;s a really nice stroller- LOL!!!

Hope you get a GREAT deal and have a wonderful time!

We always took our double jogger stroller, side by side, until our kids absolutely outgrew it. (Up to 7 y/o) Although the side by side is wider and bulkier, it let both kids see equally. You can park it on the curb for a parade and both are happy. In your case right now, the 6 m/o probably won%26#39;t fuss too much in the back or you will be holding them for parades but in the future you will probably find the side by side works best for their happiness and manuvering ANY style stroller around Disney can be a challange @ times. We also usually packed 2 cheap ';umbrella'; strollers for times when we knew we would split up or was only going somewhere for a very short period of time and would take only 1 for the youngest. We never tried them but I have seen ';couplers'; that would fasten 2 umbrella strollers together and make it possible for 1 person to push them both. If you are flying, I highly recommend bringing your own gate checkable strollers so you can travel quickly down the concourses without stress to the kids. While your kids are this small, umbrealla strollers with canopies would probably be your best bet as they also fold up quickly for bus/monorail loading.

It has been awhile since we have had this problem, but when we went we took a double umbrella stroller. It works well with juggling 2 kids and a stroller. Remember at MK you have to ride the tram from the parking lot. One of you will be carrying the 6 month old and then the other will carry the stroller. Whoever has the extra hand will be assisting the 3 yr old.

One tip I will give you that we learned is when taking the monorail. You can leave the kids in the stroller, and all you need to do is look for the handicap car. As long as there are no wheel chairs waiting to get on you can wheel your stroller on. There is no center console, and you can wheel the stroller straight thru. I remember using it many times when the boys were sound asleep and it made our lives easier.

Also, before you leave MK at night try to go back to see Mickey and the other characters under the big top. The lines used to be no existent at that time. The 3 yr will have time to talk to each character and they will have time to interact back. It was one of our best trips when ours were young. In fact I have a picture sitting on the table next to me with my youngest at 2yrs old hugging Daisy from one of those nights. 10 years later he is going down with his boyscout Troop leaving in 5 hours from now, and probably will not go hug Daisy. BUT that Mickey that he got on that trip is going back down to Disney with him, again.

Enjoy your trip and remember do not try to conquer Disney. You will be back again, and again, and again

I would try the singles and get the ones that you can clip together. Much better as the 3 yr old may not be in it too much so you could fold it down and carry it on the other stroller.

Yeah i recomend either the tandem or the side by side as using two single strollers may become a bit difficult especially when you are trying to get out a park and there are huge crowds it could also be harder to move. But just looking at what the tandam is i would say you should use the tandam its not too big across and its giving them their tabel and cup holder.
