Hello everyone! I am all of a sudden in the midst of planning a trip to WDW over Easter break. I need to make a reservation by tomorrow. I have not been since I was 9, and I will now be taking my husband and two kids, ages 6 and 9. I am trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado Springs. Any suggestions?
Thanks so much!
Sarah
Port Orleans Riverside or Coronado Springs?I would choose Port Orleans. We stayed at Coronado Springs in Jan and had several issues with our room keys and charges. We have stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter in the past but not Riverside. We always had a wonderful experience there though.
Port Orleans Riverside or Coronado Springs?I would also choose POR over Coronado, especially with kids along.
POR rooms have the extra sink and the entire resort is more ';geared'; toward families.
Coronado rooms have only one sink, and since it%26#39;s a convention resort, more adult-oriented.
I%26#39;d have to give Coronado a plug for the better main pool area, however. POR%26#39;s main pool is nice and big, but Coronado%26#39;s is just better themed and I believe the water slide is longer.
However, at POR, you can use that resort pool or hop over next door and go to the ';sea serpent'; pool at POFQ. Pool-hopping is allowed between the two Port Orleans resorts.
I am staying at Coronado next month with my family of 8 (four being teenagers). We have not stayed there but have stayed at CBR (our last time there we visited Coronado) and POR (while at POR we walked over and visited POFQ). We recently switched from POR because we would of been there one of the few times that both the Alligator Bayou pools would be closed along with the main pool. I called and switched to Coronado figuring this is the perfect time to give it a chance. We do want easy access to a pool.
That being said with a family I would pick POR over Coronado. The reason we did not choose Coronado last time was because we wanted a place with more families. POR has this. We loved it and wanted to return. The pools should be open while you are there. POR has Bob the piano player, your kids will enjoy this in the lounge. The food court is very good. The general store has everything you need. The grounds are amazing. The boat to downtown disney, the kids will think this is a ride in itself. Using both main pools, two slides to test.
The positives I have found at Coronado since we decided to change our trip are the buses are usually empty during the day due to the conventioners being busy. The pool same situation. The pool is reported to be the best of the moderates. They have a dig site for the kids. Most rooms have been changed to Queen beds versus Full size. The counter service one of the best values for your money if on the dining plan.
That being said, have you looked at CBR? My older kids think this was the best choice when younger. They loved it there and recently improved the pool and play area.
Thanks so much everyone for all of your replies! I was originally looking at CBR, but all of the rooms that go along with the promotion that I will be using have been taken. I believe that there are only a few rooms left at POR, which is why my travel agent also suggested Coronado. I had never really thought about POR until a couple of days ago, and I started getting excited about the southern riverboat theme and the boat to Downtown Disney. I think that I stress myself out too much about these decisions! I am sure that they are all great!! I may ask the agent to try to get me a room at POR that is fairly close to the main building or to then try Coronado.
Pick POR for size if you want to be close to the main building. It seems more compact then Coronado. Another thing at Coronado is the pool, arcade and play area is a distance from the main area. At POR the pool is only a walk over a bridge from the main area.
You will be happy at POR and if saving money with the deal.....very happy. You can save CBR for another trip.
CSR offers queen beds, newly renovated rooms and more.
