family-friendly hotels in ft. lauderdale

Hi,

I%26#39;m considering a last minute trip to fort lauderdale for next week and wondering whether it is going to be filled with college students!? I will be travelling with my husband and two children (2 and 4) and want to stay somewhere family friendly.

Any suggestions for hotels? I don%26#39;t know much about the area, so any information would be helpful.

Also, is Hollywood Beach a nice alternative?

You won%26#39;t encounter many spring breakers, in recent years Fort Lauderdale has made it quite plain that they are not welcome, only the horrible hotels and motels allow them to stay. Steer clear of the like of the Avalon, Tropic Cay, Beach Plaza and Days Inn Bahia Cabana. Which hotels to chose depends very much on how much you want to pay. We stay at the Cocobelle which is reasonably priced and family friendly but some feel that a car in necessary if you stay there. Hollywood Beach is a nice alternative, quieter than Fort Lauderdale with a quaint feel.
